Information We Collect

Account Information: Email address, username, and optional profile photo

Game Data: Gameplay moves, scores, statistics, and preferences

Device Information: Device model, OS version, app version, and device identifiers for push notifications

Usage Information: Session duration, feature usage, and crash reports

Camera and Photo Access

We request camera and photo library access only when you choose to upload a profile photo. This is completely optional. We never access your camera or photos without your explicit permission, and we never share your profile images with any third parties, advertisers, or external services.

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the game service
• Enable multiplayer features
• Send push notifications (if enabled)
• Improve game performance and user experience
• Prevent cheating and ensure fair play

AI Features

WordPulse uses Anthropic's AI services to help generate definitions, examples, and translations, and to assess word requests. We share the relevant word, language, and dictionary text with Anthropic for these purposes. These requests do not include your account information or game data. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy and data retention practices.

Content Reports

When you report content, we collect your account ID, the reported word and content, and your selected reason to investigate and address the report.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Data sharing is limited to:

• Other Players: Your username and game statistics are visible to opponents during gameplay
• Service Providers: Supabase (hosting/database) and Firebase (push notifications) process data on our behalf
• AI Service Provider: Anthropic processes dictionary text for the AI features described above
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law

Note: Profile photos are never shared with third parties or other players.

We use the following third-party services:

Permissions

The app requests the following permissions:

• Camera (optional): Take profile photos
• Photo Library (optional): Choose profile photos
• Storage (required): Local data caching
• Internet (required): Connect to game servers
• Notifications (optional): Receive game updates
• Vibration (optional): Haptic feedback during gameplay

You can manage all permissions in your device settings.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption for data transmission and storage. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you delete your account, we revoke your login, anonymize your profile, and delete content reports linked to your account from our active database. Some completed game records shared with other players and submitted word requests may remain with your profile anonymized. Dictionary words, definitions, examples, and translations may remain available as shared dictionary content, separate from your personal account data. Backups, logs, analytics, and crash reports may remain according to applicable retention settings and service-provider policies.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and data
• Revoke permissions at any time
• Opt-out of push notifications
• Export your game data

Data Deletion

To delete your account:

• Use the account deletion feature in the app settings, or
• Contact us at app-support@coutts-consulting.com

When you delete your account:

• Your sign-in details, including your email address, are deleted
• Your profile photo is removed and your name is anonymized
• Shared game records and word requests may remain with your profile anonymized, as described above
• Push notifications stop
• Content reports linked to your account are deleted

Account deletion cannot be undone. Backups, logs, analytics, and crash reports may remain according to applicable retention settings and service-provider policies. For more details, see our Data Deletion Policy.

Children's Privacy

This app is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
